2013 Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival Grand Chef Throw Down

Creekstone Farms was a proud sponsor of the Palm Beach Food & Wine Festival's Grand Chef Throw Down this year. This event featured three chefs competing in a head to head cooking batlle in which each chef brought one secret ingredient to partner with their Creekstone Farms teres major (a muscle in the shoulder that is comparable to filet mignon).

The three chef's competing for this year's top honor were Chef Eric Grutka of Ian's Tropical Grill in Stuart, Chef Scott Varricchio of Citrus Grillhouse in Vero Beach and Chef Edward Dickens of Emerald Dunes Country Club in West Palm Beach.

For the second year in a row, Chef Eric Grutka of Ian's Tropical Grill took home the bragging rights along with $10,000!  Of the $10,000 prize, $5,000 is going to be donated to Grutka's chosen charity Celebrities Fore Kids, an organization that raises money for children suffering through cancer.

Nathan Stambaugh of Creekstone Farms, Top Chef finalist Lindsay Autry and master sommelier Virigina Philip served as judges for the event.

Grutka's winning dish was Asian Steak and Eggs comprised of miso and honey rubbed teres major, over umami greens with miso, shallot, and garlic topped with a soft boiled egg, corn, and green onions.  "It feels awesome to win, of course," he said. "It was a little unexpected; the competition was high this year."
