Creekstone Farms COVID-19 Response
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER AND WE WANT YOU TO KNOW WHAT WE ARE DOING TO PROTECT OUR EMPLOYEES, THEIR FAMILIES, OUR CUSTOMERS AND OUR VENDORS AGAINST THE DISRUPTION CAUSED BY THE COVID-19 (Corona Virus) PANDEMIC.
Creekstone has been monitoring the advance of COVID-19 since it started disrupting the Chinese market in mid-December 2019. Creekstone leadership has been meeting on a regular basis to exchange information and make decisions on how best to protect the business and its most important asset--the people who come to work every day to fulfill the Company’s mission to produce and deliver the world’s finest Black Angus beef.
Protecting our Team Members is extremely important. We’ve already taken steps to protect and educate not only our Team Members, but our customers and vendors as well by working diligently to ensure the continued operation of our business.
Team Members
To help protect our Team Members and communities, we’re following the advice of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), including taking the following measures:
- Encouraging sick Team Members to stay home.
- Separating and sending home Team Members who have a temperature and/or appear to have respiratory symptoms.
- Promoting frequent handwashing, as well as sneezing etiquette.
- Routinely sanitizing frequently touched surfaces in the workplace.
- Asking everyone to refrain from shaking hands.
We’ve posted these recommendations and other information in our facility and will continue to update our Team Members as this situation progresses.
Operations
Protecting our business operations is also extremely important. We have canceled all visits by non-essential personnel. Those vendors/visitors needed for business necessity are subject to a questionnaire before we allow entry. We continue to emphasize good manufacturing practices for sanitation in all food production and storage areas and to emphasize sanitation measures in all other common areas.
We are working with each part of our supply chain to manage and prevent disruption of supplies, production and distribution. We are identifying ever changing risks and looking for alternatives should this situation linger. Preventing disruption to our Team Members, customers and vendors is our number one focus at this time.
Travel
Creekstone implemented travel restrictions weeks ago. We have suspended all international travel from the U.S. and will self- quarantine rotating staff who have traveled overseas in high risk areas. Creekstone has also placed restrictions on Team Members scheduling or attending large, work-related trade shows or conferences.
Food Safety
COVID-19 is not considered a food safety concern.
The CDC’s website states that COVID-19 is generally thought to be spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. “Currently there is no evidence to support transmission of COVID-19 associated with food.” In general, because of poor survivability of these coronaviruses on surfaces, there is likely very low risk of spread from food products or packaging that are shipped over a period of days or weeks at ambient, refrigerated, or frozen temperatures. However, as always, you should ensure any raw meat product is properly prepared and cooked.
Food safety is NUMBER ONE at Creekstone. Our federally inspected facility will continue to follow the lead of its Food Safety & Quality Assurance experts to ensure the products Creekstone provides remain safe and wholesome.
